Grăsimea brună

Dar când este vorba de chimia din corpul nostru, lucrurile sunt așa de complicate că nu suferă comparație nici cu o simfonie.

Zâmbesc strâmb când citesc: ”îngrășarea se datorează unui dezechilibru fundamental energetic, când energia furnizată de mâncare depășește energia cheltuită pe mișcarea fizică și procesele metabolice”.
O terapie pentru reducerea greutății corporale trebuie desigur să implice mai puțină mâncare și mai mult exercițiu. Dar aceasta nu este nici pe departe de ajuns. Cine a trecut printr-o dietă știe prea bine aceasta.

Pentru oamenii cu greutate normală, grăsimea brună consumă energie în timp ce grăsimea albă tinde să o depoziteze. Dar în cazul celor care urmează o dietă cu restricții calorice severe, grăsimea brună devine în mare parte inactivă ceea ce înseamnă că amândouă tipuri de grăsime devin organe de depozitat energie. Devine extrem de dificil să mai slăbești.

Fenomenul este bine-cunoscut dar cercetătorii de la Garvan Institute of Medical Research din Sydney și de la Universitatea NSW au găsit și explicația științifică. Au folosit șoareci în experimentul lor dar mecanismul este probabil la fel și la ființele umane.
Ei au arătat că un neuro-transmițător, neuro-peptida Y (NPY), cunoscută că stimulează apetitul, joacă de asemenea un rol major în a controla dacă organismul arde sau depozitează energia.
“Un nivel mare de NPY semnalează corpului că se află într-o situație de ‘foamete’ și că trebuie să încerce să-și refacă și să conserve cât de mult posibil energia. Ca rezultat, corpul reduce procesele care nu sunt absolut esențiale pentru supraviețuire.”

Dar atunci când te lupți cu grăsimea cea încăpățânată, te agăți și de ultimul pai.
Se fac acum studii pentru a vedea cum se poate crește și activa grăsimea brună.

Acum un an, cercetătorii de la Universitatea Harvard au făcut o descoperire importantă pe șoareci, descoperire confirmată ulterior pe oameni. Se pare că exercițiul fizic aduce și alte beneficii în afara arderii caloriilor. Și anume, produce un hormon, numit irisin. Irisin este un călător ”ecologic” prin organismul nostru. Crește celulele brune cele bune și descrește celulele albe ”poluatoare”.
Irisin nu este de altfel singurul ”produs secundar” al exercițiilor fizice, rezultă de asemenea sute de proteine cu rol important în sănătatea noastră.

Un alt candidat pentru creșterea cantității de grăsime brună din organism este Acidul ursolic, care se găsește în mere (în special în coajă), prune, unele ierburi mediteraneene și de pe la noi cum ar fi busuiocul, levănțica, oregano, cimbrul și câteva fructe de pădure cum ar fi coacăzele.
Evident că mass-media a percutat imediat la această știre și a lansat un nou șlagăr ”Mâncați mere” dar lucrurile nu sunt de loc simple. Cercetările sunt confirmate numa în studii pe șoareci deocamdată.
Dar, mă rog, un măr pe zi este oricum una din cele mai bune idei pentru sănătatea ta.
